"When Bitter Spring Sleeps - Coven of the Wolves" (full album or song) will be sent to DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE to PROTECT OUR WOLVES!
Wolves are an iconic, native species that play a vital role in restoring healthy ecosystems by keeping prey species in balance. Places like the Olympic peninsula and the Colorado Rockies could benefit both ecologically and economically from the return of wolves.
More than 1,100 wolves have been killed in the Northern Rocky Mountains since USA Congress stripped them of Endangered Species Association protection back in 2011.
These wolves face rabid anti-wolf politics, aggressive lethal control, unsustainable hunting, intolerance and other threats across the entire country, and haven’t yet returned to suitable habitat in many parts of their historic range.
Defenders of Wildlife is a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation founded in 1947. Its mission is to conserve the natural abundance and diversity of native wild animals and plants, and the habitats on which they depend. Their website: Defenders.org
As one of the country’s leaders in science-based, results-oriented wildlife conservation, Defenders works to educate and mobilize the public to protect and restore America’s native wildlife. Programs are primarily funded through grants and contributions.

Flame in the Fields the wind is an old man creeping and bold he's silent and swift his blood runs cold Enough of your sorrow! Enough of your fear! Return to the green heart in the new frontier We've honored your gods far too long and now we sing the Earth's own song Wait for the rain cold grey clouds we raise our young strong and proud We fight a new war within our souls our hearts burn like a flame in the fields

Rest in the ground: I fear nothing with the sky up above me and the dark ground below I fear nothing! why do you condemn the ground you walk upon? why poison the soil that brings you life? there is magic in these trees and lost wisdom no longer able to see through your sleeping eyes Denial cannot save thee from the blackness of the earth! Green life now from open mouth not the lies as told in life You claim to be immortal now sanctuary from reasoning but you'll die like the rest of us! the rest in the ground I planted my thoughts in this cold dark ground I hear the whispering of trees secret voice of the land below Each time I try to catch the wind every try it escapes from me but this is my time my century a mere moment in an eternity I want to melt into the Earth a return to the green heart the black soil of her womb and the silence of my tomb you claim to be immortal now sanctuary from reasoning but you'll die like the rest of us and rest in the ground this Pagan ground this Heathen ground the leaves lie broken and brown upon this dormant ground this midnight wind blows so cold and lonely oh we'll all be there beneath the old trees in the warm breeze without a care there is truth in the soil a mystical alchemy an infinite dream of which we shall all be only a spark in time separate from earth and sky a pure and great freedom! a cycle eternal "From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity" -Edvard Munch

Coven of the wolves He is father to the mighty wolves raising only grey sons Hidden deep in forgotten lands in caverns there he feeds revenge An army of silent predators a hundred thousand heartbeats strong To the cry of the midnight owl he sets his children free The coming of the wolves The coven of the wolves Skies once cloudy with industrial death Scarlet moon clear above the mountains black Hammer of hearts and steaming breath They thunder into nighttime fields To conquer this world of man a ravenous sea of blood and fangs Flames rise from once-holy spires to decimate their hollow lives! Pouring from blackend spaces between these towers of green Streaming forth in deadly silence tearing veins and ripping throats The coming of the wolves The coven of the wolves Take back their hunting grounds Reclaim their fatherlands Grey storm surges cloaked in robes of Mother Night Seething in silence Red eyes gleam burning fire Black and grey the horde comes howling with eternal glory skies once cloudy with industrial death scarlet moon clear above the mountains black hammer of hearts and steaming breath howling with eternal night to conquer this world of man a ravenous sea of blood and fang flames rise from once-holy spires to decimate their hollow lives!

The sky has not always been this way See them fall in drawings on cave walls from centuries gone their history fading Oh how they rose in grandeur and majesty! But their magick was too strong It dragged them down and they drowned in their own greed for more Their hunger for wisdom and the old ones they say that the sky has not always been this grey They held their words in their hands sent knowledge through sky and light but forgotten their Mother their place in the web of this ancient way A tenuous grasp of a small part of Nature and a future they'd never live to see Razed forests for towers but the waters came rushing in Oh how they shone in grandeur and majesty! but their magick was too strong it dragged them down and they drowned in their own greed for more and a future they'd never live to see And the old ones say that the sky has not always been this way Look beyond these sands my sons and gaze into the past centuries forever lost A time where seasons thrived in light of a brilliant sun But rang aloud a clamor of greed A foul and odorous blood they drained it dry and choked the light from their skies All reason came to an end while cowering in sterile tombs Their seasons came to an end This is the wherefore we break our backs to wrest life from this soil and attend to the beat of Her feeble heart I beseech that your sons will know as well
